Job Overview:
As an Animal Care Specialist,
you’ll be a vital team member responsible for the well-being of our
animals. This role involves monitoring animal health, performing daily
care tasks, and maintaining an environment that upholds our standards in
animal welfare. This position is a first shift role, working Monday
through Friday with rotating weekend and holiday work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and evaluate the health of sows and piglets daily
- Maintain accurate records for health and breeding progress
- Ensure a safe and clean environment, following biosecurity and animal welfare policies
- Handle animals for feeding, movement, and general care tasks
- Assist with facility cleaning and routine maintenance as needed
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, with exposure to dust, manure, and noises,
- Availability for rotational weekend and holiday work
- No personal pigs. For biosecurity reasons, team members are not permitted to own personal pigs.
