Facilities Technology Technician
LEI is looking to hire a skilled worker to join us as Facilities Technology Technician! The preferred applicant will have experience with low-voltage installation, security systems (door access, IP cameras, alarms), basic networking, and a willingness to learn help desk support. No certifications are required, but a working knowledge of the skills required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performing hands-on installation, service, and support of facility technology at our office and site locations
- Supporting door access, IP camera, alarm, and network systems across the company
- Providing help desk support to team members as needed
- Working knowledge of standard safety procedures for ladders, low-voltage work, and equipment handling
- Must be willing to be on-call
- Can work alone or as a team
- Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and in tight spaces (ceilings, equipment closets, attics)
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and at heights
Door Access Systems
- Installs and services card readers, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, electric strikes, and maglocks
- Pulls and dresses low-voltage cabling cleanly through walls, ceilings, and conduit
- Tests door hardware end-to-end including lock cycles, fail-safe behavior, and forced or held-open alerts
- Manages badge holders including enrollment, deactivation, and schedule adjustments
IP Cameras
- Mounts, aims, and focuses IP cameras (bullet, dome, turret, PTZ) for usable coverage
- Runs and terminates Cat6 cabling and verifies PoE delivery
- Configures basic camera settings including IP addressing, naming, time sync, motion zones, and recording schedules
- Reviews footage quality after install and adjusts for clean, usable images
- Replaces failed cameras and documents the swap
Alarm Systems
- Installs and services alarm components including contacts, motion sensors, glass-break detectors, sirens, and keypads
- Assists with panel programming, zone configuration, and user code management
- Tests alarm signals end-to-end with the monitoring center
- Troubleshoots and resolves false-alarm causes including environmental, hardware, and programming issues
General Technology Support
- Supports network and facility equipment including switches, access points, racks, and structured cabling
- Stages, images, and deploys workstations, peripherals, and other equipment
- Acts as the on-site partner for senior engineers and outside vendors
- Labels all cabling, ports, and equipment as work is completed
Help Desk Support
- Helps team members with everyday tech questions including password resets, printer issues, peripheral setup, and basic Microsoft 365 troubleshooting
- Triages and escalates complex issues to senior staff with clear documentation
Requirements
- Must have excellent communication skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- Applicant must have a valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. at a time
- Operating hand tools and power tools
- Foundational tech literacy in Windows, web-based admin tools, and basic networking concepts
- Must pass a background check
- Willing to follow all LEI biosecurity guidelines including downtime, times between sites and disinfecting
