Christensen Farms is one of the largest, family-owned pork producers in the United States, marketing approximately 3 million hogs per year. Headquartered in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, the company operates throughout the Midwest with facilities in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois and South Dakota. Christensen Farms owns four feed mills, manages 145,000 sows on 44 farms, and oversees more than 350 nurseries and grow-finish sites. Position Overview & Responsibilities

This position is responsible to direct staff on rotating shifts to ensure all live haul equipment is washed and to ensure all trailers are run thru "bio dri", inspected, chipped and paneled in a timely manner in accordance with safety, quality and bio-security requirements to meet transportation deadlines.


What You Will Do

  • Direct staff on shift to ensure efficiency, quality, bio-security and safety standards are met.
  • Assist Manager with prioritizing and scheduling trailer wash activity and appropriate labor.
  • Train new employees and coach existing employees
  • Assist with washing and disinfecting of live haul and other equipment as needed.
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to Manager
  • Complete required documentation relating to business or regulatory requirements.
  • Assist Manager to ensure execution of all wash functions and washed trailer inspections as per SOP.
  • Responsible for routine/preventative facility tasks such as yard work, laundry and supply replenishment as needed.
  • Perform light duty maintenance on the facility, equipment or trailers as needed and communicate any issues to the manager.
  • Communicate with team to ensure quality, safety, bio-security and deadline requirements are met.
  • Ensure a successful bio dri cycle on all washed trailers.
  • Be able to read and understand weekly transportation schedule.
  • Properly panel and chip all trailers per SOP and approved transportation guidelines.
  • Inform Manager of any supplies needed to complete job, including driver supplies.
  • Safely drive spotter vehicle to retrieve washed trailers from the wash bays, take into bio dri and when complete park in clean parking lot.
  • Perform and document an inspection on every trailer per the Christensen Farms guideline before parking the trailers in the clean trailer parking lot.
  • Suggest, plan, and implement agreed upon process improvements and safety best practices.
  • Functions as a back up to the Manager including all required administrative tasks
