About Hord Family Farms
The Hord family is in it's 5th generation of family farming, with over 100 years of farming heritage. Hord Farms is a pig, cow and grain farm. Our team of talented individuals and growing partners strive to raise our animals with care, and utilize modern and advanced farming practices to be efficient and sustainable.
PIGS
At our farm, we care for our pigs from birth to market. Their feed primarily consists of corn and soybeans, with occasional additions of wheat or barley. To meet their nutritional needs at each growth stage, we carefully balance their diet with essential vitamins and minerals.
Pigs are born in a birthing barn, where each sow (mother pig) is provided with individual quarters to deliver and nurture her piglets safely. At about three weeks of age, the piglets are weaned from the sow and moved to a nursery, where they join other piglets of the same age in a comfortable, controlled environment.
Once they outgrow the nursery, the pigs transition to a growing barn. Here, they have plenty of space to roam within their pens and eat freely until they reach market weight, ensuring their health and well-being every step of the way.
GRAIN
Raising animals comes with the responsibility of feeding them. On our farm, we grow corn, soybeans, wheat, hay, and barley, but we also partner with neighboring farmers to purchase additional grain, ensuring we meet our animals' needs.
CATTLE
Our cattle are raised from feeder to market on a diet of grasses, hays, grains, and minerals.
Purchased from other cattle farms, they are cared for in open-air barns with fresh bedding. In a commitment to sustainability, our cattle facilities are partially powered by solar energy!
